This large-scale map of Moravia was realized with the community to foster awareness and knowledge about its own territory. Residents painted the street grid and mapped their homes, schools, workplaces, shops, restaurants and favorite places such as green spaces or the cultural center. These individual layers created a visual representation of the complex organically grown urban fabric interwoven with social, environmental, economic and cultural relations. A final layer illustrated the current state of planning for the neighborhood. It foresees eviction and relocation of a major part of Moravia with devastating consequences. By understanding the city planning, the community can make informed decisions and better defend its right to stay in the neighborhood it has created with its own hands.

Este mapa en gran formato fue realizado con la comunidad para fomentar conciencia y conocimiento sobre su territorio. Habitantes pintaron la cuadrícula de calles y mapearon sus hogares, escuelas, trabajos, tiendas, restaurantes y lugares favoritos como espacios verdes o el centro cultural. Las capas individuales crearon una representación visual del complejo tejido urbano con sus relaciones sociales, económicas y culturales que han ido creciendo orgánicamente con el tiempo. Una capa final ilustró la planificación proyectada por la administración para el barrio, que prevé la reubicación de la mayor parte de la población de Moravia con consecuencias devastadoras. Tras la información y el entendimiento de esa planificación los habitantes pueden tomar decisiones sensatas y defender su derecho a quedarse en este barrio que han creado con sus propias manos.

Eine großformatige Karte von Moravia wurde mit der Community auf den Fußboden des zentralen Platzes gemalt, um Wissen und Identifikation mit dem Territorium zu stärken. Bewohner*innen haben ihre Häuser, Schulen, Arbeitsplätze, Grünräume und Lieblingsorte farbig markiert. Die individuellen, sich überlagernden Schichten haben sich zu einer visuellen Illustration des komplexen Gewebes organisch gewachsener sozialer, ökologischer, wirtschaftlicher und kultureller Beziehungen zusammengefügt. Eine finale Schicht aus Stoff kam temporär zum Einsatz, um die Auswirkungen der für Moravia vorgesehen Stadtplanung zu verdeutlichen, die eine Umsiedlung für den Großteil der Nachbarschaft vorsieht. Erst das Verständnis dieser Pläne versetzt die Community in die Lage, sich gegen sie zu wehren und ihr Recht auf den Verbleib in ihrem selbst geschaffenen Lebensraum zu verteidigen.
